Saint Mary of the Mount Church & Saint Adalbert Church
Announcement concerning the Merging of Parishes
After much prayer and discernment, and in collaboration with the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and in an effort to stabilize and become healthy as possible before we merge, it has been determined that we need to clarify the needs of our parishes. Specifically concerning Prince of Peace Parish, we need to determine which church will best serve us for the future. As for Saint Mary of the Mount Parish, we need to determine how we are to proceed with or re-envision the construction of the proposed parish center.
Relevant to Saint Mary of the Mount Parish
Relevant to Saint Mary of the Mount Parish, we are in the process of assessing the proceeds from the capital campaign along with the future remittance of pledges and revenue from private foundations, etc. to determine if we can proceed with the Parish Center as originally advertised. At this time, no decision has been made.
Relevant to Prince of Peace Parish
Relevant to Prince of Peace Parish, we have been authorized to begin a process to determine which church in the South Side will best serve us for the future and which church we will need to close. The process prescribed by the diocese consists of information gathering and assessments for the church buildings, a clear detailing of our financial situation along with the current and future needs of our parish, and public meetings. Please expect public meetings to be held in the fall for us to share all of our findings, assessments and needs, etc., and to give everyone an opportunity to offer input. As we proceed, more information will be forthcoming. And to be clear, no decision has been made as for the future disposition of our two church buildings in the South Side.
Overall, we simply want to keep everyone informed about the status of the closure process as well as the parish center project, and the efforts being made to clarify our respective needs to promote stability and health. Once we have more information, we will let everyone know. Keep praying! Thank you!
